Why I’m a Proud UC-METC Student

We can’t imagine life without a school. School is a temple of knowledge where we can learn how to live in life. In school we are taught how to behave with others and how to progress in life. The students, who are nervous to learn, can develop healthy habits in schools. “He who opens a school door, closes a prison”, by Victor Hugo, motivates me to study  well.

My school, which is situated in the heart of Cebu, is the place which is suitable especially for maritime courses. It is University of Cebu-Maritime Educational Training Center located along Alumnos St. Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu South Road Properties, Cebu City. It is near SM Seaside.

I am proud to be a student of this school because it is equipped with competent instructors, who are devoted to upgrade academic excellence and good traits toward their students. Like for example Sir. Gianne Rensen Antonio, who is our English teacher. He teaches  us in very effective manner so we can learn more knowledge and interest.

In cleanliness, hygienic  conditions prevail in and around the school campus. It has a well-organized garbage cans with labels. The janitors are hardworking. Even though it is already night time, they are still there to make sure that the campus are clean. Security guards and other personnel are strict. They do not allow any untruly behavior or any undisciplined activities.

What I’m also proud of UC-METC, is they have a different scholarship offered. You can still pursue your dreams even if you lack financially.

Someday, I will travel the world. I want to go to Paris, London, Cuba and America. I want my parents to be proud of me as well as my school. I’m proud to be a METCians.

Why Rodrigo Duterte Will Be My 2016 Philippine President?

Election is choosing someone for a public office by means of voting. As we go through, the countdown of 2016 Philippines Election has begun when the candidates filed their candidacy for the different position last October 2015. Filipinos should vote wisely, responsibly  and perceptively. The elected leaders will sit for 6 years in their position. 

Binay, Poe, Roxas, Duterte and Santiago are the contenders for the Philippines Presidential race. We need a leader to solve the poverty, illegal drugs and corruption. Former Mayor Rodrigo Duterte gain my vote.Base on the different news and information that I’ve heard, I think Mayor Duterte has the potential to lead. Especially he was known by the country with his fight against crime and illegal drugs. If ever Duterte will win as the President, the Philippines would be the same as Davao City. Davao City is noted for having maintained a peace and order here in the Philippines. He also created Davao City as the 9th safest city in the world. That’s one reason to show how effective he is as a leader.

He has a simple, plain and bare lifestyle. No doubt that he has only a bungalow house in Davao. Unlike the other politicians who gained wealth by corrupting the government. The people is charged high, expensive and lofty taxes. That’s why those people who are poor are getting poorer. He has the power  to lessen, avoid and ease the corruption. Duterte has maintained his simple lifestyle even though he has a high position in Davao City. 

He is full of drama, theatrics and surprises. He make people laugh and convince by his propaganda. He is also known for his blunt, abrupt and bluff characteristics. Many can relate to him. He has the charisma many can identify with.

Mayor Duterte has a big heart, compassion and sympathy for poor people. He has the capability to help people who are in need. I believe that he can make the Philippines progressive in his way. One problem of the Philippines is poverty. Poverty is when an individuals income falls behind the community’s standard. It leads to hunger, lack of shelter and having no job. I believe that he has a solution for this primary dilemma. 

He has the knowledge, wisdom and insight. He has a condition of knowing something  with gained through his personal experiences. It is one factor that a good leader should contain. I know he will be wise enough to make decisions for making the country a better place.

Therefore, we should vote Mayor Duterte. He can make our country a better, safe and a good place to live in. In addition, he is an epitome of change for many Pilipinos. Choose wisely and vote responsibly. 

My English 2 Experience

English is genuinely one of the most important global languages. It enables people from different part of the world to communicate, understand and express their feelings to each other.

My first experience of learning English is at home with my parents. Since my mother is a teacher. She taught me how to speak english first. It was so challenging, interesting and satisfying. I was able to encounter words that are unfamiliar for me. I am blessed to have her as my mother. She is so patience, understanding, and hands on. On the other hand, my father is a Gov’t Employee. Despite of his busy schedule he is still there to guide me especially to know how to count numbers.

As I became a college student, I am miles far from my love ones. From Calbayog to Cebu, they don’t escape weekend to call on me. Going through school, I am now in second semester 1st yr. student. I’m a little bit nervous, afraid and uneasy. I don’t know yet my intructor in English 2. My English 2 schedule is M.W.F. As Monday came,  we already met our instructor. I taught that he was strict rather he was understanding, handsome and has a good posture. He taught us topics that can make our English skills firm, unique and peculiar. I consider him as one of my best intructor in English. He has different techniques and ideas in teaching. It made me thankful, exciting and glad.

Now, I feel like I am a blogger. It is my first time to make this in order for me to pass this subject. I really enjoy doing this, though sometimes it is difficult, hard and arduous. Especially that you will need an internet connection in order for me to write this on my blog. It is not a hindrance for me but rather a challenge.

My experience in this subject is totally awesome, great and challenging. Honestly, I’m included on those student who were late to submit the essay about Sinulog. It totally bothered me and I gained a lessons on that because it is a part of a discipline. I thought she will scold me but no. My mother cheer me up and she told me that it is not yet to late. She is supportive in many ways. In this experience, I learned a lesson. I may apply this as a life lesson as I go through.

I am also thankful to have a instructor like Sir. I am inspire, cheer and bear up Sir! In your way of teaching I became a blogger. I am looking forward for your upcoming lessons and techniques that you will teach us since we are still in the middle of the semester. Thumbs up!😀

Maayong Kaugmaon

Dili sayun makat’unan ang lengwahi na English2.

Apan akung buhaton tanan para anah.

Kay diha magsugod imung kaugmaon.

Padung sa  dalan maayong kinabuhi.

My Sinulog Experience

My sinulog experience was very awesome because this is my first time to attend this kind of event. Even though if we go to the UC-Main earlier to participate crowd control that was assign by the Cebu City council that all ROTC students should be there to do their duty to assist a crowd control it is very important to me to come earlier to pass ROTC requirements.

We woke up to prepared our self’s to come earlier to the UC-Main and find their platoon for the formation and attendance checking. In every street their are people to hold the rope to secure also that no one could be pass if the event was started because it is the command by the higher rank or shall we call as officers.

When the event was started we do our duty holding the rope , standing position for 5 hours to not let them to pass when parade was started already. Some people cooperate when the break time started the formation was break because of the people wanting to pass the rope to buy their lunch.

Our effort was very worth it because we are in the front we seen the parade clearly we are lucky. Other people on the last corner cannot see the parade because of many people want to go to the front to take a picture of their idol they create a plan on how did they go to the front.

When the Break time comes the people started to move their self that was the time that we rest in the corner to gain some energy and to continue our duty as an ROTC students. To hold the ropes.

A heavy traffic can be seen during the break time. The car cant move because of many group of people walking on the road to buy their lunch. I see some of people in the corner was very difficult to them to passing through the street.

When the nights come the number of people started to decrease to go in their own house and to celebrate their sinulog not on the street but on their house listening high volume music and party with the family.

We also enjoy the party even if we are on duty. When night comes we celebrate the sinulog party in a Mango Avenue together with my friends and board mates. Dancing , singing and Drinking a little bet beer. I really enjoy that night that was my first sinulog experience.

Going home late and sleeping late was very worth it because I enjoy that day with my friends going on some places. Watching parade and I’am very happy because I finished my duty in ROTC.

My first time sinulog was very awesome even though if I felt tired because of standing on the street for how many hours. That day was very memorable to me all of my effort was so very worth it.

My name is Gideon Jay Araiz Guades, I was born on July 9, 1998 and I’m 17 years old of age. My favorite foods are Steak , Adobo and all kinds of fruits. My favorite outside activities are joining camping , biking , traveling. Playing basketball is my hobby playing with my friends spending how many hours with them different activities joining together and have fun to each other.

To become a successful seafarers or Captain someday, To travel different places are my dream. I’m a adventurous kind of person to have lot of friends that has a purpose or help you in all of your problems or Struggle in life. To help other people that needed your help not to become selfish to anybody to create a better life of success and to share sometimes the blessings that you get. I am still studying at UC-METC a first year Bachelor of Science Marine Transportation student. We have a good teacher in our English 2 he had a potential to teach her student and to explain the topics that discuss clearly.

I pick this course to become a Seafarer someday even if how many Miles far from home less communication with the love ones. I will sacrifice my joy in life to become a successful person someday  because I want to earn dollars to travel different places and to buy the things that all I dont have today. I want to help my family specially my Mother and Father when they get older.

To finish my study are my goal in life . My purpose of studying is to have my own house and lot for my family and also to my future family someday. Being a student are very hard sometimes you will sacrifice and suffering many problems it is not a reasons to give it up. Not be affected to the people that give you a negative comments . Because that comment make you to go down to give up not to fight . Every problem that the god give to us has an solution.

I can be a successful person not comparing your life to others you will try for your own best to work harder. It is a part of struggle to study hard to do your very best to pass the subject and be friendly to the person that help you when you are in a hard times of your life. Because the true success found on the last part when you graduate college and find a better job.
